Medical Delays Ending & Progressing Anew

Progress Updates

It’s been a long time! I’m sorry to have been so quiet for a while, but it’s been a taxing few months, and while everything is now roughly okay, I’ll explain more below. As far as the game goes, the short version is that things are getting back on track and I'll be returning to more regular updates from here on. We’re getting there!

Medical Delays

This game is developed by two people: me, doing the programming and writing, and my wife, who does all of the artwork. I don’t plan to get too incredibly detailed here, but my wife got what appeared to be a fairly dire cancer diagnosis a few months back, which sent both of us into a bit of a tailspin and pretty much brought all work to a halt. I didn’t update at the time in part because I didn’t have enough details to meaningfully explain anything or make any kind of predictions or plans, and in part because it was just not something I wanted to talk about.

After a lot of waiting, and overwhelming anxiety, and some very helpful doctors, we’re now in a much better position and trying to get back into the rhythm of life. We’re both kind of trying to figure out how to act like normal people again, so it’ll likely take a bit to build up momentum, but we will have new work to show again soon.

What's Next

The point where I “left off” was in the midst of creating the soundtrack and sound effects, so that’s a lot of what will be coming up. There has actually been quite a bit of other progress since then, it’s just been very haphazard and random. Keep an eye out for:

  • In-progress UI and combat sound effects
  • Original music to set the mood for your overworld maps and RPG combat
  • Updated combat UI that allows for variable enemy portrait sizes
  • Screen-recordings to show actual working gameplay
  • Maybe a trailer, if I can figure that out? I don’t know.

Sorry again for the silence, and thanks so much for keeping up!

Best wishes. Getting back into the regular rhythms of life can be challenging after something like this, so I'm rooting for you!

Thanks so much! We're definitely getting there.
